Scylos Appoints Dr. Chase Cunningham (Dr. Zero Trust) to Board of Directors

Former NSA cybersecurity leader joins Scylos Board to provide guidance on threat-informed architecture, zero-trust execution, and market alignment.

Nashville, TN

Nashville, TN —Scylos, the stateless endpoint infrastructure company, today announced the appointment of Dr. Chase Cunningham to its Board of Directors. Dr. Cunningham (aka Dr. Zero Trust), a former NSA cybersecurity leader, will provide board-level guidance on threat-informed architecture, zero-trust execution, and market alignment as the company scales its platform across enterprise, regulated industries, and government sectors.

Dr. Cunningham is a nationally recognized cybersecurity leader with deep experience across intelligence, defense, and enterprise security. He previously served in senior cybersecurity roles supporting the National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S. defense and intelligence missions, and is widely known for advancing zero-trust security models grounded in real-world adversarial behavior rather than theoretical compliance frameworks.

His appointment reflects Scylos' commitment to pairing technically rigorous infrastructure with governance and oversight informed by operational reality. From the Board, Dr. Cunningham will help ensure that Scylos' architecture, positioning, and market engagement remain aligned with how security leaders, regulators, and operators actually evaluate and deploy critical infrastructure.

"Chase understands how systems are actually attacked, not how we wish they were attacked," said Rich Galgano, Principal at Scylos. "Equally important, he brings the discipline to pressure test strategy, architecture, and messaging against real-world threat models. His perspective helps ensure Scylos scales with credibility, clarity, and integrity."

As a board member, Dr. Cunningham will advise on threat-informed architectural principles, zero-trust execution discipline, and enterprise adoption considerations, particularly in environments where credibility, regulatory scrutiny, and operational clarity determine success. His experience helps Scylos avoid theoretical approaches and maintain a grounded, execution-focused posture as it expands into high-assurance environments.

"Most zero-trust efforts try to wrap policy around fundamentally insecure systems," said Cunningham. "Scylos removes the assumption of persistence altogether. That changes both the security model and the adoption conversation. From the Board, my focus is on helping ensure that what we build, and how we bring it to market, reflects the realities security teams face every day."

Dr. Cunningham's background uniquely positions him to bridge strategic oversight with adversarial realism. His experience in intelligence and defense environments provides firsthand insight into how threats operate in high-risk settings, while his work advancing zero-trust adoption in enterprise contexts informs how organizations evaluate and operationalize new security paradigms. This combination strengthens Scylos' ability to execute responsibly as it defines a new category.

"We're building a company that operates at the intersection of rigorous security thinking and enterprise reality," said Gregg Struve, CEO of Scylos. "Chase adds an essential governance perspective rooted in real-world threat experience, reinforcing our commitment to building infrastructure enterprises can trust."

Together with the recent appointment of Kevin Goodman as Chairman of the Board, Dr. Cunningham's addition reflects Scylos' deliberate board strategy: pairing disciplined enterprise execution with adversarial realism and market-facing clarity. The company is assembling a Board capable of guiding long-term governance, technical integrity, and commercial success as it establishes the zero-trust endpoint substrate category.

Scylos

We built the world's first Ephemeral Endpoint Substrate—a secure, stateless execution layer designed to replace the traditional, stateful operating system at the edge. Scylos runs consistently across diverse hardware without local data, persistent state, or shared infrastructure. Endpoints are treated not as computers to be managed, but as temporary execution environments defined entirely by policy.

•Scylos ZeroCore™ is the stateless runtime that boots clean, executes only what is required, and terminates without leaving residue.

•Scylos Switchboard™ is the centralized control plane that defines, deploys, and governs endpoint behavior across distributed fleets.

Every Scylos deployment operates in a single-tenant, fully isolated architecture, ensuring that customer workloads, data, and infrastructure are never shared. The result is an endpoint environment where compromise does not persist, governance is enforced centrally rather than managed device by device, and recovery is achieved by restarting the endpoint into a clean, known-good state—rather than repairing a compromised system.
